Fair Rents

The Court of Appeal has just ruled that the Government acted unlawfully when it issued the Maximum Fair Rent Order in January l999. The Order capped increases in fair rents to 7.5% above the Retail Price Index. The ruling affects those fair rents registered over the past year and future fair rent registrations. The Government has stated that it intends to appeal against the court decision. From the date of the Appeal decision to overturn the Regulations, all applications will now not be capped. For advice on the applications made between 1st February l999 and 1st February 2000.
