Situation & Amenties

Cirencester 11 miles; Cheltenham 12 miles; Kemble Station 14 miles (mainline to London in 1 hour 20 mins)
(all distances are approximate)

Elkstone has a long history, being mentioned in the Domesday Book and following the Norman conquest, was handed over to one of the most prominent landowners in the county - Ansfrid de Cormeilles. In 1962 the village arrived in the modern age with the advent of electricity! It is now a thriving community where life centres around the village hall in the middle of the village, and the church.

Located north of Cirencester and south of Cheltenham, Elkstone is ideally placed for driving to both centres for their extensive range of shopping, recreational and cultural facilities.

The area is noted for both its independent and state schools. These include Coberley Primary School, Rendcomb College (a short drive from the house), Kingshill and Deer Park Secondary Schools, Cheltenham College and Cheltenham Ladies’ College.
Elkstone is well placed for travelling to many parts of the country with the M5 (J11) about 10 miles to the north-west and the M4 (J15) about 25 miles to the south. Kemble Station is about 14 miles (London Paddington in about 80 minutes).

The Cotswolds are renowned for country pursuits and there are many enjoyable walks in the area together with an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways with excellent riding. Rugby and Hockey Clubs for all ages in Cheltenham, Cirencester, Fairford and Bourton on-the-Water. Polo is played regularly at Cirencester Park. Golf courses are found at Cirencester and Cheltenham; racing at Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon; with theatres at Cheltenham and Oxford. A variety of water sports are available at the Cotswold Water Park near South Cerney.
