Gently through the summer, equestrian events, from racing, eventing and polo to Pony Club activities and Fun Rides, have begun to take place again.
These activities are all subject to Covid regulations of course and there are no spectators as such. It is a great relief to all competitors, owners, trainers and those in the industry that the horses are now able to compete and work in their respective disciplines.
Butler Sherborn’s Head of Equestrian Property, Ben Way of Team Way Eventing comments – ‘We were lucky enough to be able to keep all of our horses in work during the Lockdown period which allowed us to get going straight away once the competition season got back under way at Barbury Castle on the 11th July. The horses have come out fresh and on great form, getting some good wins on the board, along with plenty of top placings.
A number of the bigger events, that are reliant on spectators, such as Blenheim and Burghley were cancelled early on, which has limited our options for end of season targets. However, there are plenty of new fixtures being added, such as Cornbury House International in early September. It will be great to have another international event in the Cotswolds.
As we plan the Autumn campaigns for some of the older horses, we now have to look to international events in Ireland, France and Holland, quarantine restrictions allowing….!
