As we put the difficult markets of 2024 behind us, what can we predict for the spring Cotswolds market?

The announcements in the budget definitely lead to the market pausing as people revalued their budgets with increasing employer NI contributions, additional Stamp Duty on second homes and increasing school fees. We have not yet seen any impact on pricing from these changes and homes in catchment areas of Outstanding state schools could see a boost in value.

Although the drop in interest rates is not expected to be slower than previously thought, it should begin to creep back down giving the market more confidence to make decisions. The Cotswolds does feel the pain of a tougher market less than others and I think we could be in for an exciting spring market.

Drought Tolerant Plants By Oxford Garden Designs

After the long, hot, dry spring and summer the impact of climate change in most of our gardens is obvious. Establishing that pristine, green stripy lawn has been a challenge this summer, and, given the shortage of water in our reservoirs, not sustainable. Many of our favourite garden plants have fried, shrivelled, or even died so it seems inevitable to me that us green-fingered folk will have to make some changes in our approach to maintaining gardens.
