Butler Sherborn Equestrian End of Season Round Up

Ben Way, Head of Butler Sherborn Equestrian, comments on the 2023 Season……
‘We are now coming towards the end of our 2023 eventing season. I have just returned from a trip competing two young horses in France, where we made the most of the Autumn sunshine. Quite a few of the other horses have gone out on holiday after their runs at the bigger Autumn international events, notably Cornbury and Blenheim. I think that Bicton International in Devon will be our very last event towards the end of this month.
Looking back, 2023 has been a really good season, with horses stepping up well to the next level. In addition, it was great to get back on the British Team for the Nations Cup leg at Millstreet International in Ireland. We have also got one of the older horses qualified at 5*level now, so he may be aiming for his first 5* in either Germany or France at the end of next season.
As the competition horses head out for their six to eight week holiday, we will now concentrate on the younger horses. Shortly, we will bring in five 2 year olds and three 3 year olds to be broken in over the winter, which is always very rewarding, but can be quite entertaining too………. ‘
Helen Whitfield, Head of Butler Sherborn Residential Sales, has had a wonderful end to her season, having focussed on the Cotswold Cup unaffiliated series and some BE qualifiers for Badminton Grassroots.
The Cotswold Cup culminated in a three day long format event, held at Cirencester Park. She was delighted to finish 9th on her home produced Connemara, Watervalley Tribesman (Silver). He now gets a well deserved holiday for a couple of months before focusing on dressage and going up a level next season.
Helen is currently bringing on Silver’s half brother, PJ, with a view to competing him in 2024.

Richard Greasby Runs Another Ultra Marathon - Running In a Land Of Fire & Ice
There was a certain inevitability that soon after my double marathon in the Atlas Mountains in 2024 that I would be open to another challenge whilst legs, health and my wonderfully supportive wife Carol allowed. This has all followed a growing, but unplanned, running adventure since 2019 with 14 ultra marathons and over 6000 training miles (including 100-ish half-marathon training runs). Needless to say, my physio is seeing more of me than ever!

Helen Whitfield - Market Comment
The last couple of months over the summer holidays have been unexpectedly busy for the Butler Sherborn residential teams. Traditionally, the property market tends to slow down during the school break, as many families travel abroad and shift their focus away from house hunting. However, the summer of 2025 has defied expectations.
