The Renters Rights Act 2025 – 6 weeks to go.

With the implementation of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 now only 6 weeks away – Friday 1st May 2026, the government have been dotting the i’s and crossing t’s with the paperwork that landlords or their managing agents must provide to existing tenants and all new tenants in the future.
Today, the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government has published the official Renters' Rights Act Information Sheet 2026, which landlords or, if they have one, their managing agents, must provide to existing tenants by 31 May 2026. This is a vital document which informs tenants about how their tenancy will be affected by the legislation. It is essential that the delivery of this document to each tenant is recorded formally, in order to avoid penalties of up to £7,000, which can be made to landlords who fail to provide each tenant with the correct Information Sheet, by the deadline date.
Butler Sherborn have been working hard behind the scenes getting ready for the new regime in the rental world moving forward. We will be in touch with our clients in the coming weeks to keep them abreast of what they are required to do, to ensure compliance with the new legislation.
